A Port Lincoln mansion renowned for its jaw-dropping saltwater aquarium “feature wall” is back on the market after selling a year ago.

The waterfront house at 16-18 North Point Ave, in the Lincoln Cove Marina, has been listed for sale with a $3.85 million price tag.

It comes after a buyer snapped up the house in February last year for an undisclosed price.

An 8m by 3.5m saltwater aquarium in the loungeroom that features an array of colourful sea life is among the five-bedroom, five-bathroom residence’s main attractions.

Kemp Real Estate principal Steve Kemp, who is selling the property with Georgie Kemp, said the impressive aquarium was also one of the home’s features the owner had upgraded over the past year.

“He’s spent a bit on the house – he’s redone the aquarium, he’s put another huge big bedroom in with an ensuite,” he said.

“He’s also put solar panels on the home.”

Despite the upgrades, Mr Kemp said the owner had decided to sell the impressive home so he could travel.

He said it was already attracting strong interest after just a few days on the market.

“It’s still the most superb waterfront home currently on the Eyre Peninsula,” Mr Kemp said.

The late Ron Forster – who was a game fishing record-holder, property developer, tuna farming pioneer and pivotal in growing the shark-diving industry – and his wife Janet built the property in 1988.

Ms Forster said in May 2020 when the home first hit the market that it was her husband’s idea to install the aquarium after finding inspiration in one they saw at a resort, but she didn’t realise just how big it was going to be until it was finished.

Mr Kemp said it cost the Forsters more than $1 million to install the aquarium, which was cleaned regularly by a diver.

Other standout features of the multi-level residence include a tropical indoor garden and glass aviary.
